Home-grown—Family Photos that are Rooted in the Everyday.

There is something about the way old family photos can stop you in your tracks.

Two years ago, I visited my mom and pulled out one of the many family photo albums filled to the brim with images of the past— some you can see here— and it was like opening a time capsule of my childhood. There’s my sister and me in matching messy hir-clipped pigtails and bold 90’s print jumpers, my grandpa in his signature flannel shirt, beach days visiting Myrtle Beach on vacation in matching swimwear (honestly everything we owned matched back then), and photos of my late father, which instantly brings back his scent of cologne and Marlboro red.'

They’re not perfect. The lighting is off in some, and we definitely weren’t styled by Pinterest. But they feel perfect to me. They’re messy and honest and full of real life.

And this—this—is what I hope to give the families I photograph.

When I say my sessions are “home-grown”, I mean they’re rooted in everyday honesty of real life. I’m not chasing perfection or poses. I’m chasing the heartbeat of your family—the way your kid lights up when you tickle them, the chaos of snack time, or the cozy way everyone piles onto the couch at the end of the day. The way they watch for you to come home from work or this blip in time when your baby still fits in your lap.

I want your images to age the same way these photos from my childhood have. To get softer around the edges but, more valuable with time. I want you to look at them years from now and feel it all again.

Because it’s not about looking perfect.

It’s all about remembering how it felt.

And those are the photos that truly grow with you.
